Prayer for Forgiveness

Lord,

please forgive me for (insert what you want to be forgiven for). I know that repentance is a two step process.  Not only do I need to ask for your forgiveness, but I need to turn from my sin.  I want to live a life that gives you glory Lord and not glory to myself.  Will you help me to keep away from my sinful behavior?  Thank you for showing me your grace over and over again.  I know I do not deserve it, but I am amazed at how you show mercy to me time and time again.

In your name I pray,

Amen.

Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord.
— Acts 3:19
I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.
— Luke 15:7

Prayer for When I'm Feeling Angry

Heavenly Father,

my heart is so full of hatred and anger.  I dont know where it comes from, but I know that I am constantly angry.  I find myself thinking thoughts that would be hurtful and shameful if said out loud.  I dont want to be this person who struggles to have a soft heart.  Please transform my heart from being hardened and full of anger to a softened heart full of love.  I know the most important commandment is to love and I want to follow that commandment to shine your love on others.

For he will deliver the needy who cry out, the afflicted who have no one to help.
— Psalm 72:12
God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.
— Psalm 46:1

Prayer For Habitual Sin/Recovery

Lord the urges are so strong to continue to go in the direction I am.  I cant seem to stop acting upon the temptations that come my way.  I tend to cover up my emotions with temporary pleasures of this world just so I can hide my pain.  I pray Lord that you can show me the way to freedom through you.  Please give me the strength to say no to (insert your addiction).  I know that I need to stay in your word daily, pray, and have an action plan in place.  Please help me to act upon my action plan and do whatever necessary to break this habitual sinful behavior.  I want to drink the living water instead of drinking the misery of this world.  Thank you for giving me the peace of knowing that becoming free from this habitual behavior is going to be a blessing as I become a child of yours.

In your name I pray,

Amen.

“I will restore you to health and heal your wounds,” declares the Lord.
— Jeremiah 30:17
The God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.
— 1 Peter 5:10

Bedtime Prayer

Lord,

I have been experiencing spiritual warfare at night.  I wake up and hear noises, or I feel a heavy presence in the room.  I sometimes have nightmares and I toss and turn.  I ask that you protect me during the night and allow me to dream good dreams.  Please clear this room of any evil presence as I only want to rest in you Lord.  Please comfort me throughout the night so that I may feel you next to me Lord.

You are my hiding place; you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance.
— Psalm 32:7
The Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen and protect you from the evil one.
— 2 Thessalonians 3:3

Prayer to Fight Spiritual Warfare

Lord,

I feel like I am under attack. Satan doesnt like what is going on in my life or in the lives around me. I know that following you Lord is a blessing, but along with that comes spiritual warfare with Satan trying to knock me down. Lord, I pray that I can recognize these bad days, and these trials as Satan trying to knock me down from living a life that glorifies you. I will not let Him win because I know that you have already won by sending your son to die on the cross. Lord, I ask for your strength and your armor to fight the enemy and I say out loud that I rebuke you Satan in the name of Jesus Christ!  Lord, I ask for your protection from the enemy and the extra desire, courage, and discernment to get through this spiritual warfare. In your name I pray.

Amen.

The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms. He will drive out your enemy before you, saying, “Destroy him!”
— Deuteronomy 33:27
He holds victory in store for the upright, he is a shield to those whose walk is blameless, for he guards the course of the just and protects the way of his faithful ones.
— Proverbs 2:7-8

Prayer for Feeling Lost

Lord,

I have tried over and over to build a life for myself, but I am making a mess of it. I am getting in my own way of happiness. I dont understand why I have so much of a problem letting go and laying my problems at your feet Lord, but I am asking for your help.  I feel completely lost in my life.  What direction would you like me to take? I am asking for your forgiveness of me in not surrendering and asking for your guidance Lord and your will for me? Please help me to surrender and to lean on you for strength to get back on track. In Jesus name I pray.

Amen.

The Lord will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail.
— Isaiah 58:11

Prayer of Recommitment

Lord,

I have strayed far from the path of righteousness and I ask that you forgive me.  I know now that taking control of my life has not done me any good and it is far from what you want for me.  I know that you love me Lord and I want to re-commit myself to living a life that glorifies you.  I pray that you give me the strength and wisdom to turn from my sins and rebuild my relationship with you.  The last thing I want is to be separated from you and my past choices have done just that.  Please transform my heart into desiring to be close to you Lord as I want to be right with you Lord.

Amen.

Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord.
— Acts 3:19

Prayer of Salvation

Dear Heavenly Father,

I know that I am sinner Lord and I understand that you sent your only son to die on the cross for my sins.  Please forgive me for not living a life that was glorifying you.  I want to spend the rest of my life in your kingdom Lord and I know that it requires repentance and me turning from my sin.  I know that with your help and your strength I can leave my old life behind me.  I want to transform my old self into a new self that lives a life for your purpose Lord and not my own.  I ask that you fill me with the power of the Holy Spirit so that I may be a child of yours.

Amen.

For he says, “In the time of my favor I heard you, and in the day of salvation I helped you.” I tell you, now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation.
— 2 Corinthians 6:2
